Testing the Pauli Exclusion Principle with the VIP-2 Experiment

چکیده
Violations of the Pauli Exclusion Principle (PEP), albeit small, could be motivated by physics beyond Standard Model, ranging from violation Lorentz invariance to extra space dimensions. This scenario can experimentally constrained through dedicated, state-of-the-art X-ray spectroscopy, searching for a forbidden atomic transition L shell K already occupied two electrons. The VIP-2 Experiment located at underground Gran Sasso National Laboratories INFN (Italy) tests PEP violations introducing new electrons via direct current in copper conductor, measuring energies silicon drift detector. Bayesian and frequentist analyses approximately six months data taken with fully operational setup is presented, setting strongest limit date on shown VIP collaboration. upper bound are placed 90% CL β2/2≤6.8×10−42 approach, β2/2≤7.1×10−42 CLs technique.

Test of the Pauli Exclusion Principle in the VIP-2 Underground Experiment
The validity of the Pauli exclusion principle—a building block of Quantum Mechanics—is tested for electrons. The VIP (violation of Pauli exclusion principle) and its follow-up VIP-2 experiments at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso search for X-rays from copper atomic transitions that are prohibited by the Pauli exclusion principle. The candidate events—if they exist—originate from the tra...

متن کاملRotational invariance and the Pauli exclusion principle
In this article, the rotational invariance of entangled quantum states is investigated as a possible cause of the Pauli exclusion principle. First, it is shown that a certain class of rotationally invariant states can only occur in pairs. This will be referred to as the coupling principle. This in turn suggests a natural classification of quantum systems into those containing coupled states and...
متن کاملExperimental test of the Pauli Exclusion Principle
A short review is given of three experimental works on tests of the Pauli Exclusion Principle (PEP) in which the author has been involved during the last 10 years. In the first work a search for anomalous carbon atoms was done and a limit on the existence of such atoms was determined, C̃/C< 2.5×10. In the second work PEP was tested with the NEMO-2 detector and the limits on the violation of PEP ...
متن کاملMixture of composite-boson molecules and the Pauli exclusion principle
Molecules made of two fermionic atoms are “cobosons”—a contraction for “composite bosons.” These molecules “feel” each other not only through interactions between atoms, but also through the Pauli exclusion between their fermionic components. In order to point out the importance of this Pauli exclusion in cold atom physics, we have calculated here the energy change of N identical cobosonic mole...
